Trident Racing continued to showcase a positive growth in the second race of the 2010 AutoGP. The Italian squad brough two cars on-track at Imola for Colombian Julian Leal, who was confirmed as a  full time runner, and Federico Leo, who replaced for the event South African Adrian Zaugg, taking parti in the GP2 Main Series.

The Adriatic venue saw action start on Friday, May 21, when Federico Leo crashed on practice 1, and was prevented to run in the following sessions. Julian Leal faced bad luck too, as a mechanical issue forced him to lose about an hour.

As an additional negative note, the team was unable to take part in the pre-race private test sessions previously held at the track as a result of the same-day commitments of both drivers. Nonetheless, Trident Racing worked hard to close the gap with the main rivals.

Federico Leo: “I had a tough weekend start. A mistake in the second session of testing didn't allow me to take part in the following practices, as it made much more difficult to climb up my learning curve with a new racecar. The bad start on race 1 then forced me to take off from the pits, compromising any chance of a good result, while on race 2 I moved from 9th, keeping the pace of the other drivers and scoring my first points in 5th.  I really enjoyed my first experience with the team and car, which is  great  from a formative standpoint.”
